Friday Finds: February 12, 2016

“Friday Finds” is a weekly meme hosted by adailyrhythm, which showcases the books you ‘found’ and added to your To Be Read (TBR) list… whether you found them online, or in bookstore, or in the library – wherever! (they aren’t necessarily books you purchased).

Hi there! It’s Friday again. I’m happy to share with you my newly discovered books. I decided to feature two books today. I just saw these gems while surfing the Web. I didn’t read the synopsis so I don’t have an idea about these novels. They’re just cute and pretty and I love their covers. Haha!

Title: Love In Lowercase

Author: Francesc Miralles / Julie Wark (translation)

ISBN: 9780143128212

When Samuel, a lonely linguistics lecturer, wakes up on New Year’s Day, he is convinced that the year ahead will bring nothing more than passive verbs and un-italicized moments—until an unexpected visitor slips into his Barcelona apartment and refuses to leave. The appearance of Mishima, a stray, brindle-furred cat, leads Samuel from the comforts of his favorite books, foreign films, and classical music to places he’s never been (next door) and to people he might never have met (his neighbor Titus, with whom he’s never exchanged a word). Even better, Mishima leads him back to the mysterious Gabriela, whom he thought he’d lost long before.

In the spirit of The Solitude of Prime Numbers and The Guest Cat, Love in Lowercase is a charming and uplifting novel about how one man, thanks to a persistent cat-turned-catalyst, awakens to the importance of the little things in life—and discovers that sometimes love is hiding in the smallest characters.

ISBN: 9781447280729

Anna Forster, in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease at only thirty-eight years old, knows that her family is doing what they believe to be best when they take her to Rosalind House, an assisted living facility. She also knows there’s just one other resident her age, Luke. What she does not expect is the love that blossoms between her and Luke even as she resists her new life at Rosalind House. As her disease steals more and more of her memory, Anna fights to hold on to what she knows, including her relationship with Luke.

When Eve Bennett is suddenly thrust into the role of single mother she finds herself putting her culinary training to use at Rosalind house. When she meets Anna and Luke she is moved by the bond the pair has forged. But when a tragic incident leads Anna’s and Luke’s families to separate them, Eve finds herself questioning what she is willing to risk to help them.

So, that’s it! See you next Friday.

Happy reading!
